Disability Services coordinates services and academic adjustments for Columbia College students with disabilities to ensure equal access to facilities, programs, services and resources of the college.
Services and auxiliary aids are provided to students with physical, sensory, neurological, chronic health, learning, psychological and other impairments who qualify under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Students with physical, sensory, medical, psychological or other temporary impairments may receive services on a short-term basis.
Columbia College Policy Statement
Columbia College prohibits unlawful discrimination against qualified students with disabilities and encourages their full participation within the College Community. All faculty, staff and administrators will actively support students with disabilities in all educational programs, services, and activities, in cases where such support is readily achievable and is not an undue burden. Columbia College policy, in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act, defines a qualified student with a disability as "any person who is regarded as having such an impairment, and (a) who meets the academic and technical standards requisite for admission to or participation in the College's programs, and (b) who has a documented physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities."

Non Discrimination and Advocacy
Columbia College and Disability Services support students in their right to file a grievance when they believe equal access has been denied in regard to appropriate academic adjustments, modifications, auxiliary aids or effective communication, or they believe they have been discriminated against as described in Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1990 (ADA).
